| Technical Information: These photographs were taken with a Canon EOS 35mm camera using black and white film. I developed the film and made prints at the Stanford photography lab using traditional darkroom techniques. The images on this website are digital photographs of my chemically-processed prints. These images are adjusted in photoshop to appear as true as possible to the original prints. |
Description of Projects: The photographs on this website are divided into three groups, corresponding to three assignments. The first set of photos represents a range of my best work after the first few weeks of the term. The second project is a self-portrayal in the form of an "Outer Space" montage of toys and small objects that represent me in some way. This project was a technical challenge - I arranged and projected 11 different negatives onto a single piece of 16 by 20 inch photo paper, precisely calculating each exposure to achieve the desired effect. My final project, entitled "Steel Desert" is a series of photos taken at the Alameda Naval Air Station. This series explores the interaction between nature and the man-made environment. In this setting, the last vestiges of nature are fighting a losing battle as they are overcome by their grim industrial surroundings. |
